Minister of Lands and Natural resources Honorable Jean Kapata, on 29th December 2017, issued the first 92 certificates of land title deeds in Madido area during an award ceremony.
This is under the National Land Titling Programme (NLTP) by the government of the republic of Zambia through the ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
She said that this initiative is backed by the Patriotic Front Government’s resolve to accelerate social and economic development by regularizing ownership of untitled properties in towns and cities, eradicating inequalities in gaining access to land in order to carter for all and providing citizens with the impetus for access to credit.
The minister advised land owners to acquire title deeds so that their land ownership and tenure is secured.
“My ministry decided to pilot the National Titling Programme here in Madido, Chongwe district and Lusaka district before scaling up the programme to other parts of the country,” She said.
Meanwhile Madido residents have expressed their excitement over the project.
Speaking at the same event one of the residents Mr. Munakope recommended the government for the project and advised other residents to support it.
He later pleaded with the minister to consider constructing roads in the area so as to facilitate easy movement.
Mr, Munakope further advised the government to ensure that the National Land Titling Programme is carried out across the country.
