The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources on 22nd Oct 2019, launched the 2019-2021 Strategic Plan, Balanced Scorecard and the Standard Service Charter.
Speaking during the launch of the documents Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Ms. Jean Kapata, MP, said during the Strategic Plan period, the Ministry is expected to contribute to four(4) out of the five(5) developmental pillars in the Seventh National Development Plan (SNDP)
Pillar 1. Economic diversification and job creation contributing to key result area 1 which calls for a diversified and export oriented agriculture sector.
Pillar 2. Poverty and vulnerability reduction, contributing to key result area 1 which looks at climate change and disaster risk reduction.
Pillar 3. Reducing developmental inequalities contributing to key result area 5.1 which looks at reduced inequalities specifically on reduction of gender inequality.
Pillar 5. Creating a conducive governance environment for a diversified and inclusive economy specifically the strategy which speaks to strengthening land administration and management.
The Strategic Plan calls for abandoning working in silos and doing things in a business as usual way but being creative and doing more with less.
It is envisioned that at the end of this strategic plan period, the Ministry would have achieved the following.
- Land Administration Excellence resulting in efficient land allocation and registration.
- Sustainable Natural Resources management resulting in a sound climate resilient and productive ecosystem.
- Operational excellence resulting into effective and efficient service delivery.
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has pledged to work with its partners and line ministries as it carries out this mandate. It will endeavor to advance an integrated approach in line with the aspiration of the SNDP which calls for interlinkages, multi-sectorial strategies and a coordinated approach towards sustainable development.
